Kinderdijk

About Kinderdijk

Kinderdijk is one of the most famous sights in the Netherlands and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Here you can admire nineteen historic windmills that have been standing since the 18th century, built to keep the surrounding land dry. You can walk or cycle along the dikes and even visit some of the mills from the inside to see how they work.

Kinderdijk is located about 30 minutes by car from the port of Rotterdam and can also be reached by public transport or waterbus. It’s an ideal destination for a short trip after arriving in the Netherlands by ferry from Hull.
